Spring books out fast, summer is prime, and fall is the sleeper season. Here's how to time your hardscape project.
Hardscaping in Rhode Island runs roughly from the first reliable thaw through the first hard freeze. Within that window, each season has trade-offs.
Spring
Everyone calls in April. Schedules fill quickly and wet ground can slow excavation. If you want a patio for early summer, plan in winter and book before the rush.
Summer
Dry, stable conditions make for excellent base compaction and clean polymeric sand activation. This is prime building season, and lead times are the longest.
Fall
Our favorite. Cool working temperatures, dry ground, easier scheduling, and your hardscape is finished and settled before winter — ready to use the moment spring arrives.
Winter
Frozen ground and snow make most installs impractical, but it is the ideal time to design, select materials and lock in a spot on the spring calendar.
